Whether they are escorting a patient from admitting to another department, ringing up a sale in the Gift Shop or comforting a family waiting for a patient in surgery, Saint Francis Hospital volunteers are a vital part of our hospital family. This committed group of women and men provide the extra hands and hearts which allow us to deliver quality compassionate care to our community. 

Here is the process for becoming a volunteer (age 18 or over):

1. Fill out and submit an application providing personal references.

2. Make an appointment for a “get acquainted” interview.
3. Undergo a criminal background check.
4. Attend a general orientation and training session.

Volunteers usually work a 4-6 hour shift, one to two days a week.  Volunteers are matched with their area of interest, day/time desired and position opening.

Adult volunteers are invited to join Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary.  For over 50 years, the Auxiliary has been an active supporter of the hospital.  The Auxiliary is a nonprofit, self-governing membership organization. It provides financial support for patient care projects, health care scholarships and community agencies.  Membership dues are $5.00 annually.

Summer VolunTEEN Program

Saint Francis Hospital offers a volunteer program for students ages 14-18 during the summer months only.  Applications for this program are accepted from March 1st through May 1st each year.  Students must commit to work at least 6 weeks/4 hours per week, from the middle of June through the middle of August.
